Idowu Sholanke is a painter based in Wiltshire, England. Working in large-scale acrylic on canvas, the practice has developed through sustained independent investigation — self-directed, uninfluenced, accountable only to the internal logic of the work itself.

The painting does not begin with a face. It begins with the head used as structural armature — a scaffold around which forces of pressure, retention, and redistribution are organised across the painted surface. The result is a body of work that occupies the space between figuration and abstraction without belonging to either.
